The Encanto’s Daughter
MJ Rodriguez is attempting to live a “normal” life while finishing high school, but how normal can she be when she carries a secret: she’s half human and half encanto (aka magic)? Learning that her father, King Vivencio, has passed, she is next in line for a throne and culture that she must learn from scratch. MJ also learns that “magic” school isn’t much different than a human school—bullies, crushes, castes, and studying accompany both environments. When odd events begin, she learns of sinister powers, and who to trust is questionable.
The Encanto’s Daughter shows the power of a strong-willed woman, no matter her age. MJ’s coming-of-age story teaches readers to lean on others but keep priorities first. Thrilling events happen at the beginning and end of the story, with a different kind of “thrill” happening in the middle between MJ and a sought-after someone. Fans of The Princess Diaries and The Inheritance Games will find enjoyable moments in The Encanto’s Daughter. Written as the first of a duo, I need the next book for closure!
