A Cozy Winter Day
It is wintertime in the forest, and the woodland animals are preparing for a wintery day. Ms. Polly makes deliveries throughout Acorn Village. Mr. Hopp has vegetables to make a winter stew. The animals make breakfast, get dressed in cozy clothes, gather firewood, make snacks, and get out sleds. Some tuck away into reading nooks or breakfast nooks. Others are busy in the kitchen cooking and baking, at the craft table, or in the toy room. When the clouds break and the sun shines, they put on coats, caps, scarves, and boots to play outside. Children dog snow caves, build snow bears, throw snowballs, climb, slide, and skate. When the sun sets, all gather at the Hopp house for warm stew and to sit around the fire before going home to bed.
Author and illustrator Eliza Wheeler has written a sweet story that is perfect to read by the fire on a cold winter’s day. Youngsters will relate to and love the cute animals and the daily tasks they go through in winter. The real star, though, is the enchanting illustrations that are filled with cute details that complete the story. This is too lovely to miss.
