The Wake-Up Call
Archrivals Izzy and Lucas manage the front desk of the Forest Manor Hotel. Lucas is focused, hyper-organized, and mostly grumpy, while Izzy is a carefree extrovert who is beloved by all the hotel guests. When they first began working together, Izzy sent a Christmas card to Lucas, revealing her crush on him. Yet Izzy was devastated and embarrassed when Lucas does not even acknowledge her admission, and their working relationship turns spiteful. They can’t agree on anything, but an undercurrent of chemistry may also be fueling the fire!
Beth O’Leary is my go-to author for a book that is heartwarming and cozy but also layered with emotion and depth. I adored the lead characters in The Wake-Up Call: Izzy’s big heart and quirkiness, paired with Lucas’ seriousness that was mistaken for lack of emotion. I loved how their love story evolved, and the Forest Manor was such a charming setting. Although the miscommunication trope is my least favorite romance theme, I devoured this book! This book would be a perfect read during the winter season!
