Joanne Fluke’s Lake Eden Cookbook: Hannah Swensen’s Recipes from The Cookie Jar
If you are a fan of the Hannah Swensen Cozy Mystery series, written by Joanne Fluke, you will not want to miss this Lake Eden Cookbook. It’s chock full of recipes from the series, especially cookie recipes. This is not surprising since Hannah owns The Cookie Jar bakery in the series of delightful, fun mysteries. But this cookbook doesn’t showcase only cookies. It also includes other sweet concoctions. There is also a chapter devoted to substitutions, which I found very useful for those times when you need to make confectioner’s sugar or replace one ingredient with another.
The short story told throughout the cookbook begins in December. It’s cold in Lake Eden, Minnesota, and a large snowstorm is on the way, but it isn’t about to derail Delores Swensen’s annual cookie exchange, which is scheduled to be held at the local community center. Delores, Hannah, and other friends and family get together to share recipes and fond memories of times past. Frankly, my mouth watered through the pages of tips, tales, and comical events recalled by everyone.
This book is an absolute treat, and I can’t think of a better gift for Joanne Fluke’s fans.
