Ima Koi: Now I’m in Love, Vol. 2 (2)
Satomi Mizusawa and Kazuma Yagyu’s love story continues in this second volume. But this time, the young lovebirds are faced with new challenges: Mizusawa meeting Yagyu’s ex-girlfriend, learning Yagyu’s hidden secret, and meeting Yagyu’s little sister, who is hell-bent on breaking them up. Will Mizusawa allow her shyness and self-doubt to get in the way or will she rise above the challenges?
I enjoyed reading this latest volume more than the first installment. I still find Mizusawa and Yagyu annoying, but less so this time. There were still scenes where I couldn’t stand the two of them, especially Mizusawa. I find the relationship between Yagyu and his sister very odd, incestuous and inappropriate. I don’t really understand why the author made that into a major plot point, other than to give her story a conflict. It gave the story a creepy vibe.
I still think the art is rather cute, especially the scene where Yagyu’s sister is dousing Mizusawa’s pizza with hot sauce. Her expression was priceless! I think manga enthusiasts, who are into young teenage love, should give this series a try.
