Blood and Moonlight
The murder has everyone seeking answers, even the people who are usually the first to ignore it. Cat is willing to do anything to protect her mentor, he’s innocent after all, but the evidence leading to him says otherwise. She has secrets of her own, ones that if anyone were to find out would mean she could lose everything, especially her new found partnership with Simon, the lead investigator.
This mystery set in a fantasy world surpassed my expectations. There are twists and turns around every corner and as soon as I was convinced of one thing, it was proven wrong… or was it? I was constantly questioning what I knew about the mystery and the characters. The only thing that was predictable was Cat’s past, but even that had its own twists.
There were enough characters to keep me guessing, but not so many that it was confusing. They also all have different personalities, motives, goals, and unique names that help to tell them apart. The romance is fast-paced but not rushed, and although there were times I wished they’d just kiss, it wasn’t dragged out to the point of annoyance.
