Rhea Silvia will be the Mother of Rome. When her uncle takes the throne from her father, he chooses to secure his bloodline by making Rhea a Vestral Virgin. Rhea refuses to go quietly and so she calls out to the god of war and together they make history. Rhea will give birth to twin boys, Romulus and Remus, who will go on to found the great Roman Empire. This isn’t their story, though. This is the story of the brave woman who defied all odds and chose her own fate.

This is a fantastic addition to your mythological collection. I have thoroughly enjoyed the latest trend of rewriting myths from different perspectives, which began, at least for me, with Circe. If you enjoyed that, then you will love this story. Bear makes mythology come alive to the point where it seems more like history than fantasy. I haven’t had a chance to read Medusa’s Sisters, but would love to after reading this.

I am not as familiar with Roman mythology as Greek, but I still appreciated all the work that went to the making of this epic tale. I highly recommend you read this book.
