Love Letters to a Serial Killer
One of the most provocative books I have read all year, Tasha Coryell’s Love Letters to a Serial Killer did not disappoint. In fact, it exceeded my expectations.
Readers learn in the beginning that the main character, Hannah, has been tied up in an undisclosed location and she knows her kidnapper. And she realizes she is probably going to die. The author gives only a few snippets of this part of the story which teases the reader in a way that you want to find out how Hannah got herself into this predicament. Easy enough to assume from the title, Hannah becomes obsessed with a man accused of killing four women and dumping their bodies into the ravine. But then there is a fifth murder while he is still in jail. Is this a copycat or is he not a killer at all?
This story was presented so well I couldn’t put the book down. While Hannah’s obsession with the accused gives a feeling of mental instability (can we trust the protagonist?), it’s not annoying at all and her actions are well justified.
Fast-paced with excellent characters and a riveting plot, Love Letters to a Serial Killer, is a rollercoaster ride of emotions wrapped up in a whodunnit with a delicious twist at the end.
