The Witchstone

In a forgotten corner of the Catskills live the Drakefords. The family has been cursed for generations. Nineteen-year-old Maggie lives with her family with no hope of escaping their curse. One night, a visitor knocks on the Drakefords’ door. The man who ventures onto their property is Laszlo. Introducing himself as their Curse Keeper, Laszlo explained that they had six days to break the Drakeford curse before it became permanent. Though she knows not to trust the demon, Maggie accompanies Laszlo through New York and Europe to collect the items needed to break the curse. But with only six days, will they have enough time?

The Witchstone is the first adult novel by Henry H. Neff. As demon novels go, Neff’s book is funny as hell. All the characters are endearing. Even those foul beings from the underworld. And even though the demons are so evil as to be cliched, their qualities make them easy to root for, especially that handsome rogue, Laszlo. The laughs in this novel come just as fast and furious as the action. No one will be surprised to find out that the paperwork and bureaucracy of the cursed business is hell.
