The Rogue Crown: A Novel (The Five Crowns of Okrith, 3)
Briata Catullus, one of the infamous Golden Eagles, is fated to seize the crown from a sovereign. Or so says the notorious prophecy that has haunted her entire existence. Banished from the Western Court the day after her birth, Bri has endeavored to do everything in her power to prove fate wrong. In the aftermath of the Northern battle, Bri receives a dire message from a friend asking for aid in the Western court. While Bri expects her homecoming to be ill-received by the Westerners, she was unprepared for the journey of redemption and love that fate had in store.
The story has a Robinhood vigilante meets murder mystery feel with an action-packed plot. We learn more about the main advisory and whispers of the emergence of long-lost bloodlines gaining momentum.
Overall, the series does a lovely job of weaving inclusion and diversity into the culture of the Okrith world. The abundance of LGBTQIA characters gives a thoughtful balance of representation. While the previous two books have had LGBTQIA+ supporting characters, the Rogue Crown showcases Bri’s journey of love, heartbreak, and acceptance.
