The Princess in Black and the Mermaid Princess

The Princess in Black and her friends are on a boat looking around the ocean. They find what they think is a sea monster and follow it. When the creature comes up they realize it’s a Mermaid Princess. The princess invites them to her kingdom. They find a hungry Kraken is trying to eat all the sea goats. Will the group be able to find a solution in time?

The illustrations in this book are stunning. LeUyen Pham has done a phenomenal job of making the story come to life. The color pallet, details, and creativity with sea creatures are amazing.

The text is amazing as well. The book is a perfect early chapter book. The word choice is great for those beginning to read larger books fluently. I love that it’s all about what if a child’s imagination of being a princess in black, a princess in blankets, and the goat avenger came to life.

This is the perfect addition to your library for a great set of early chapter books. I would recommend this for a read-aloud to preschool and up and a child able to read age second grade and up. My preschool daughter loved this one!
