The Paradise Problem
Anna is an amateur LA artist saddled with her father’s medical bills. Liam is a business professor at Stanford. Although mere acquaintances, the two became legally married to move into a married housing community, then parted ways after graduating from UCLA. However, Liam returns to Anna with a proposal: Will she act as his wife for a family wedding on a private island so that he can gain access to his inheritance? In exchange, she will earn enough money to pay for her father’s cancer treatments and live comfortably for a while.
Christina Lauren brings an enjoyable rom-com in The Paradise Problem! The island location was so picturesque and tantalizing that I wanted to transport myself there immediately. It was the perfect setting for a tropical romance, and the chemistry between Anna and Liam was intense. Anna was a quirky character who spoke her mind and loved her father, while Liam was closed-off and trying hard not to be a typical rich boy. At times the story felt too unbelievable, and Liam’s portrayal as a do-gooder went a bit too far. Otherwise, I had so much fun reading this book and recommend it as the perfect beach read!
