The Close-Up

Zoe Ann Weiss moved to LA to pursue her writing career. Her first book about a stalker was a flop and she has a deadline looming for her next book. She fills her time by working for a florist, which leads to a series of events that causes her to run into her ex, who is now a major film star. This close-up look at Hollywood life gives her the jolt she needs to start writing again, but soon the excitement turns to fear when things begin to happen to her exactly as they happened to the protagonist in her first book. Zoe needs to do something fast, since things did not end well for the protagonist.

The author does a great job at writing. Each chapter ends in suspense, causing you to push on to the next. Even though you feel pretty confident you know how the story ends, the author still keeps you going and takes you on a crazy journey where things are not quite what they seem. Overall, a very entertaining read, even if it’s not full of deep characters or life lessons.
