Someone Else’s Shoes
Nisha is a wealthy woman until one day, her husband walks out on her, leaving her penniless. After tracking him down, she agrees to hand over a pair of one-of-a-kind shoes in exchange for a financial settlement. The problem is she mixed up bags with someone at the gym, and the shoes are missing. Across town, Sam opens her gym bag and discovers a pair of sexy stilettos. Not her typical style, Sam wears them for a meeting and discovers that they transform her into a powerful woman and offer an escape from her somewhat depressing life.
Someone Else’s Shoes has elements of female empowerment, friendship, self-discovery, and feel-good vibes. Nisha and Sam couldn’t be more different, but their circumstances bring them together in an unlikely way. I adored Nisha’s transformation from a spoiled wife into a woman empowered to bring herself back up from the lowest lows she’s faced in decades. Sometimes I wanted to shake Sam and force her to realize what was happening within her own home and how she was putting her relationships with her husband and daughter at risk with her newfound confidence. Though a bit long, this book was witty and delightful!
