This latest posthumous work from one of America’s best-loved poets combines three works in one volume to trace the Little Alleluias Oliver observed in her writing while also serving as a sacred collection for those who love her work.

Born in 1935, these collected texts–The Leaf and Cloud, What Do We Know, and Long Life — were all originally published in Oliver’s late sixties. The work within them reflects her passion for nature as well as her astute and profound observations about life. The first two volumes are comprised of poetry and look very much like more popular and more anthologized works by Oliver. It is the third section, Long Life, that may be new to readers of her poetry. In this collection of essays, the third section of Little Alleluias, Oliver tackles everything from the writing process to the words of Wordsworth and Hawthorne. While this section also includes poems, they are tonally and structurally different than some of Oliver’s more well-known works.

For fans of Oliver, and those interested in Natalie Diaz’s introduction which contextualizes Oliver’s work in the pantheon of poetry, //Little Alleluias// is a must read.
