Friends Beyond Measure
This is a book with an interesting message for young kids who are facing the dilemma of their friend moving away. But it gets totally lost in the clutter of the pages, which makes it almost impossible to follow along. Ana and Harwin have been friends for as long as they can remember. They do everything together, from attending birthday parties, Halloween fun, coming up with ways to get a real horse, and climbing trees.
That is, until one day Ana says she is moving away, far away, from Harwin. Harwin is devastated and comes up with different graphs to determine how long it would take to get there and be away from her best friend.
The issue with this book is the graphics. The idea of using infographics might have been interesting but the execution is poor. Each page is so filled with information, not always related to the story, that it is difficult to impossible to keep track of what is going on with the larger overall narrative. If they were less cluttered then this would have been much better.
