Buried Too Deep is a character-driven thriller that starts off with a woman named Joy being shot in her office. She is part of a PI firm and the mystery involves a woman named Cora. One of the main characters is a man named Phin who has PTSD and a service dog named Soda Pop. As the reader is given more information about Cora, they are also introduced to a bad man named Alan. Alan will stop at nothing to get what he wants and even manipulates his own grandson, Sage, into working for him and doing the dirty work.

Although I enjoyed the plot, the book was extremely long for the story it was trying to convey. There was a ton of character development and often times I felt the excessive dialogue was unnecessary, especially during the romance scenes. The middle part of the book dragged on and I became bored as I was reading. The character of Cora was also a bit whiny which became old as the PI characters were trying to solve the mystery of who killed her father twenty-three years earlier. Overall, the story was good, but an editor would know to take out the extra parts to make the story move a bit faster.
