The US Government had been exploring doomsday possibilities since the early days of the Cold War. As the US and the Soviets built up their nuclear arsenal, this planning became crucial. With nuclear proliferation allowing weapons to find their way into the hands of rogue nation-states, the need for a plan to handle an apocalyptic attack became paramount.

Nuclear War is a chilling read that delves into the consequences of a nuclear launch and the protocols that are enacted in response to the launch from foreign entities. Author Annie Jacobsen (“First Platoon”, 2020) is a well-respected writer and researcher whose latest work is far more frightening because the storyline is conceivable in the increasingly fraught global landscape.
