American Trickster

The body discovered in 2003 in the forbidding terrain of Death Valley was just another mystery connected to reclusive author Carlos Castaneda. The remains were identified as Nury Alexander, a devoted follower of the anthropologist. Castaneda rose to prominence with the publication of his book The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge in 1968. His work was highlighted as an Anthropological book and proved inspirational to many, yet as years passed, skepticism would arise as to the claims made in his book and whether Castaneda’s works were bunk and better described as fiction.
